What is suede matboard?
What is suede matboard?
The brand that I use is Crescent Moorman. It’s a high quality fabric matboard that is fade and bleed resistant and has a premium white conservation core and backing.
A drawing can be transferred to the suede board with graphite. The suede fabric is very receptive to graphite so when transferring a drawing to the board, make sure it’s not going on too dark.
If pigment needs to be removed from suede board, first lay a piece of Scotch transparent tape on the offending color and scratch the top of the tape with your fingernail. Gently lift the tape and this will remove color. Another method, if using Lyra Polycolor, is to dab at the color with a Lyra kneaded eraser and pigment will be removed. A stain may remain, it depends on how much pigment is embedded in the suede.
Where can we buy it?
The Crescent Moorman suede board will be available through me for the project that I teach at the Colored Pencils Club.
You may be able to purchase it at a professional framers. There are other names in the Crescent line beside Moorman, be sure you stick with the Moorman, the others give unsatisfactory results, in my opinion.
Sorry, I should have given you my contact info.

What kind of glue/adhesive do you use when mounting finished piece?
Hi Janet, I use Lineco glue. There is a video about papers at the video library.
Do you spray the suede board when you are finished and what do you use?
I will ask Janelle but it is my understanding that it has to be framed under glass.
Where can I find This Suede Board. There is a Project I would like to do, but can find the Board any where.
